Day 5: Coming to an End

Day 5: Coming to an End

Activity 1: VE Day!
After six long years of fighting, World War II finally came to an end in 1945. The entire country was ecstatic and parties were thrown all over New Zealand to celebrate VE Day (Victory in Europe). Imagine that you were living in New Zealand in 1945 and you had to plan a VE day party at your house. Who would you invite? What would you do to celebrate?

On your blog, tell us all about your (imaginary) VE party. If it was me, I would invite all of my closest friends and family over to my house for a big barbecue. We would eat hamburgers and play basketball in the driveway. Some of us would probably walk to the local beach to play soccer on the beach and to go for a swim (if the weather was warm enough)!

I would invite all my family and friends to go to the beach and have a barbecue. We could play volley, baseball, cricket, touch, rugby. We could go for a swim or play at the park while the parents talk.

  1. Kia Ora Annalisa,

Thanks for completing this activity; it's clear that you've been on a bit of a roll this summer!
Speaking of summer, what an excellent location you've picked for your VE Day. The beaches in New Zealand are so beautiful and unique. I think that as a culture, we have a really intimate connection to our ocean.
I also appreciate that you've listed so many sports to play; everyone at your celebration would work up an appetite, that's for sure. Good thing you'll have a delicious barbecue waiting.

Have you been swimming at the beach this summer? I was back in Gisborne briefly visiting my whanau and I swear I went every day.

    Keep up the great work!

    Cheers,

    Jordan.
