Activity 2: Art Deco
In the 1920s a new artistic movement emerged in New Zealand (and around the world). It was called ‘Art Deco.’ The picture to the right is a classic example of an ‘Art Deco’ piece. Take a close look at the painting. Do you like it?

I would give this painting a 4/5. I really like features of this painting. I would like to know if there is a background story to this painting. I gave it a 4/5 because its missing the front mirror, and if that's a handle its on the left side instead of the right.
Hi again Annalisa, thank you for sharing your examining and sharing your thoughts on this piece of art. I am glad you have spoken about specific things you did or didn't like. I hadn't noticed that the car was missing the side mirror, how very observant of you. What did you think of the colours that the artist has used? Do you like her outfit? I like the gleam on the side of the car, the bonnet and the door handle.
ReplyDeleteIt's also cool the way she is sort of looking at you. It's almost as though she is posing for a photograph.
