Explanation Writing

If you had a chance to make a change about something, what would you
change? I have been attending St.Pius X school for 8 years and I have seen
many changes. But these changes have been by the BOT instead of the
children of the school.

The first thing I would like to see change is the classrooms. I think each
classroom should be more bigger with more power points that aren't actually
broken, aren’t coming out from the walls and can actually work. I would love
to see more bigger tables because one table can fit 4 people but when
drawing, writing, etc is being done there is no space.

Another change I would like to see is the use of earphones during class.
Some classes, my class in particular are really noisy all the time.
I find earphones really helpful to block out all the noise while I do my work.
In my class we’re not allowed earphones for any reason. I think this would
really help keep us focused on our work instead of listening to what people
say around as and join the conversation.

At the end of every month we should give a piece of paper and ask the
children that attend the school what they would like to see change in the
school. But small things like, a hot breakfast at the breakfast club instead
of cold milk and cereal. We come to school for a whole week in mafti or
even having an activity week at school with all our classrooms joined together.

In conclusion I would love to see these changes happen over the years
even though I will not be attending St.Pius as a student but as an ex-student
when I come to visit. I would also love to see other children speak for wanting
to change our school. Not in a forceful bad way but in a good, healthy and
happy way.

Holiday experience

My youth and I had got given an address to work at as part of our outreach
programme. An outreach is when one youth goes somewhere and sings
and helps people who are elderly or who has disabilities that stop them
from getting things around the house done. Kolotita was an elderly women
who was paraplegic since she was in her mid 30s. She came from Tonga
and now lives in Mount Roskill.

When we first got to her house I noticed that there was a ramp instead of
stairs like some normal houses would have. I also noticed that it was old
and some of the painting had come off so she must have been paralysed
for a long time. When we got to her door her husband greeted us with a
warm welcome. We started off with a prayer and from there introduced
ourselves and where we came from. The husband then told us what we
had to do and we started straight away. I cleaned the whole kitchen with
Stanley Latu while everyone else was cleaning the outside of her house.

When we finished we sat and talked with her for a while. She told us her
story and how she became paralysed from the waist down. One day in
Tonga she was climbing a tree and fell from a really. Her spinal cord was badly injured and she cant talk clearly like most people.

We said a final prayer to bless Tita, said our goodbyes and headed off back to Glen Innes. It was a great first experience and I can’t wait for more.

Retreat reflection

In a representation of what I did at the retreat, I made 3 different kinds of shapes. I made it
to represent that it’s okay to be different from others. The testimony that was said at the retreat made me really think about college and the type of decisions I make.
One of the activities we did was to do with buying stuffs like paper, pencils and tape.
We didn’t know what we were gonna do with what we bought so it kind of made it hard.
Once we purchased our stuffs, we were told to build a house using what we bought.
It was difficult because we did not know how to make one using what we purchase, however, we made
a house. It was not strong because the structure was poorly made.
It was not stable and we didn’t have enough materials to build a roof.
This taught us that the choices we make now, even if they are small. Can affect us in the future.

My soul friends

These are my wonderful and talented soul friends Moala and Langilangi. They are both very independent and intelligent people. Langilangi is loud and rough, while Moala is quiet and shy. Moala is 7 and Langi is 8, Moala is year 3 and Langi is year 4. They both have the same favourite colour which is blue. They are both in room 3 and both like eating fast foods like KFC, Dennys and Mcdonalds. Langilangi likes to play sports, he likes getting his hands dirty and likes having a fun time. Moala likes to read books, she likes to learn music and doing typing speed test. My two soul friends are like my best friends while at school. It's going to be a fun year teaching them the actions of a leader.

Hiphop leson

Today we had our first hip hop session without instructor Jess. We started it off by doing some warm ups. We did a lot of warm ups that included us to use our: Head, neck, legs, hands, arms, fingers, wrists and feet. The first warm up we did was we had to turn our head to one side then push it out and then turn it to the other side and do it again. The second warm up we did was more focusing on our legs. We had to kind of squat down/bend down and then up. Our third warm up was my favourite because it was really fun and something out of my comfort zone. We had to do a arm wave. We had to put our arms out straight on the sides on us. I really enjoyed our hip hop lesson and didn’t want it to end.

The Islander in me!

My hair is rough like the husk of a coconut. My voice is as loud as the choir singing in the church. My eyes reflect the light coming from the sunset. My skin is as brown like that palm tree trunk that reach over me when I walk outside.

My feet sinks down into the soft green grass every time I step out the door. The hot wind blows my hair back and forth. Trucks go past blasting music louder than a lion's roar. Village people carrying baskets made from long palm fronds across their shoulders.

The sounds of animals rings through my ears as I walked pass derelict houses abandoned by owners may be through tribal wars. The aroma of freshly cooked umu food causes my nose to twitch. Roasted pork, still on the burning fire, leaves my mouth watery as I would savour just even the slightest drop of water.

Tired from walking in the hot rays of the sun, I stop to catch my breath, faster than I could catch a ball.  For a moment it feels like the sun peeking through the clouds. Then I thought “What a magnificent and beautiful place Samoa is.”

A great start to Cook Island language week

Full of excitement and wonder my heart was pounding as I entered the TakiTumu Reo. As I walk inside of the kindergarten I see smiling little faces on each child's face. I see children running, dancing, singing and playing with toys. I see the beautiful Cook island dresses that they wear. I hear guitars, drums and little kids singing. I thought that today was a wonderful experience about the Cook Island culture. I experienced the language, the dancing,  the songs, the instruments and my favourite the food. I felt proud to hear the history of my culture. I loved the different kinds of Cook Island foods that was prepared. I also thought that I learned a good amount of knowledge about the Cook Islands.

Grandparent's Poem

I wish I could talk and see you right now
I wish I could hug you when I’m feeling down
In my world I always see you wearing the crown
We’ll go places together
I’ll always be your grandchild forever
I’m going to see you one day when I’m in heaven
I’ve never seen your face and now I’m eleven
I the love I have for you will never fade
You're the best gift that god has ever made

Saint. Patrick's Day recount

Saint Patrick’s Day Recount
In our Saint Patrick’s day mass, I sat next to Diego because he was my soulfriend. I felt like my mum because whenever I asked Diego to stop talking to his friends and fiddling with his fingers he never listened. When it was time for Holy Communion Diego was talking and high fiving his friends in line, he kept on talking to the person that was next to him, so I decided to sit in between them. They still kept on talking. Finally Mass finished. I was so relieved that Mass was over because I didn’t have to sit next to Diego anymore, but then I remembered that we were having a shared lunch with our soulfriends.

After Mass my soulfriend and I went to the field to have a shared lunch. But Deigo hadn’t brought anything to share so I had to give him a big box of Just Juice and a big party pack of Doritos. Diego, my soulfriend just kept talking with his friends and eating their food just as if I hadn’t given him anything. I felt as angry as a bull.

Strange Object

When I felt this object it felt hairy and squishy to me. When I ate it I didn’t feel nice because the seed’s always get stuck in my teeth. I also didn’t like it because I don’t like this object. I think that this object is too bitter and too sweet for me. I also don’t like this object, because the juice in the object goes everywhere.

Mother's Day as my mum

Mother’s Day as my mum

On  Mothers Day dinner I had my dinner at home because I had no money to eat somewhere special. My partner, my third oldest son, my middle son and my daughter Annalisa were there. I sat next to my chatty daughter. I wanted to move away but I knew that it would hurt her feelings and make her feel sad like a little boy does when he drops his ice-cream.

I felt really mad at my children, because it was Mothers Day and I had to get the squashed and oily chicken at the bottom. I thought it was really funny when my daughter Lisa, spat coke out of her nose, when my son made her laugh. I was caught up laughing so much I didn’t notice my daughter videoing me. I was so embarrassed my cheeks went as red as a tomato.

Then I  heard the front door open and close, I asked Lisa to go and see who it was, but she was caught up in her food so I went to go look for myself. It was my son’s friend. I felt as angry as a bull, because he entered my house without being invited. My favourite child Lisa told me some jokes that cracked me up. This was the best Mothers Day ever, because my 2 sons were there as well as my daughter and my partner.

Saint Patrick's day recount

On Saint. Patrick's day mass I sat next to Diego. When the mass started I heard talking coming from the end of the seat. It was Claudia and Silia. I asked them to be quiet but they just kept on talking. Mrs Puluto though I was talking to Claudia when I asked her to stop talking and I got told off. I was as mad as a bull. When the mass had finished, we had a shared lunch with our soulfriends. I brought two big party packs of chips and two medium boxes of juice for me and my soul friend. My soul friend(Diego) brought no food. I felt really sorry for him.

Kids for Kids

WOW! What an exciting night I had last night because I got the opportunity to perform in the kids 4 kids concert Vodafone Events Center, as a soloist ( rapper how bizarre) for world vision.

I got dressed in really bright clothes, because I was going to do a solo part on stage.  After an amazing and wonderful song Nathan King called me up on stage to do a very funny ,silly song with him.  When I walked up on stage I saw my mum, my sister-in law and some of my friends mum’s, after.

I had introduced my name and my school there was a lot of people screaming and shouting especially my sister- in law. When the background music came on, Nathan King started to sing.

I got so nervous I started to sweat a lot, it looked like I was wearing oil all over my body. When I started to sing I heard a lot of people started to scream and shout, I was so nervous I couldn’t move that much than I looked back and saw my friends smiling at me.

When I sat down I saw other people’s mums and dads coming to watch the year 4 and year 5 students perform, I also saw my mum and my sister-in law seini clapping their hands and screaming a loud go Lisa.
After we sang a lot of songs that had funny and weird actions, the concert finished and everyone said well done to each other and I said goodbye to my friends

I went to McDonalds with my sister Seini and my mum, we went to my sister Seini's house and had Mcdonalds.

Holiday Madness

During the school Holidays my mum and I went to visit my wacky cousins in Manurewa that had a really good sense of humor and because we haven’t seen them in a long time.

My sister said that there was going to be a big exciting surprise, it was a big water fight (boys V.S girls) there was different kinds of coloured paint, soft white flour and sloppy wet brown dirt, was involved. My sister said that we were going to have this water fight, because it was a really hot day. I was very excited to hear this.

I thought it was also funny because my sister Seini slapped my face with white paint. It hurt so much. The reason why she did that is because I popped a fat water balloon on her back because everyone dared me to. I was so mad.

After a wonderful sloppy and messy water fight we got dried and had a barbecue, I loved the food that my uncles cook for everyone. Next when all the kids finished eating we all grabbed blankets and sat down on the couch to watch some horror movies that was a really good ending to my holidays.
